Here are some moments we shared with the School and Minischool groups over the last couple of weeks.
We continue working on letters and numbers in various ways. Recently, kids wanted to create their own computers, using a real keyboard as an example. What could be better than working in the office with your laptop?
One afternoon, a group of boys decided to build the tallest Kapla tower they could. To make it perfect, they had to work together and come up with the best strategy. The tower fell several times, but they didn’t give up. Instead, they reflected on what went wrong.
“There are too many people moving around, and that makes it fall,” they realised. So, they made a plan—some would pass the Kapla pieces while others focused on building. They also decided to place each piece carefully, making sure it was perfectly aligned with the one below to keep the tower stable.
We continued exploring snowflakes by creating them with playdough. Everyone took a different approach—some shaped their snowflakes using many small playdough balls, while others used toothpicks. Meanwhile, Mathilda decided to make a snowman, noticing that many snowflakes together can turn into snow, perfect for building a snowman!
The other time we were painting with watercolors. First, we drew snowflakes with crayons and carefully chose our colours. It wasn’t just blue—different shades of pink, purple, and green appeared too! Each child selected their favourite combination, making it a great opportunity to explore how watercolour blends. But they also noticed something interesting: the paint wouldn’t stick to the crayon marks!
Building different houses requires a lot of discussion and collaboration—how should we build it? What will be the rules of the game?
Sometimes, the house becomes a cozy space for reading books and playing board games together. Other times, it transforms into a ski station, with a train leading us there! To make sure everyone can take part, the children combine their ideas, adjusting the game as they go.
The other day, while exploring a book about our bodies with the school group, we had some interesting discussions. What is inside our body that we can’t see? Where is the heart, and can we feel it beating? Why do we need bones and muscles? To find out more, we decided to test our muscles by trying different exercises!
Here are some other wonderful moments we shared with both groups over the last couple of weeks.
